The Ministry of Interior (MoI) had recently made changes to procedures for Indians travelling to Qatar on on-arrival visas.
A credit card is no longer a must for Indians to get visa-free entry into Qatar, according to a new update on Qatar’s Ministry of Interior. A debit card will also serve the purpose, it said.
“Applicant must be in possession of a valid credit or debit card (Mandatory to present a valid credit or debit card in the name of the traveller; in case of travelling with family, the family head should have a card in his name),” said the announcement on the MoI website.
Indians travelling to Qatar should either have a credit card or a debit card registered under their names if they are to be allotted a visa-waiver for a 30-day stay. If they are travelling as a family, the card should bear the family head’s name.
An earlier update had made credit card mandatory for Indians for the visa-free entry, along with a few other conditions. It said Indians entering Qatar on waived visas cannot apply for an extension beyond the initial 30-day period, should have a passport that is valid for at least six months, a return or onward air ticket and a hotel reservation in Qatar. There are no changes to any of those conditions.
