The Ministry of Municipalities and Environment said, that the Qatar will begin exporting foodstuff from 2019, reported the Peninsula Qatar.
Assistant Undersecretary at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment and Director of the Center for Environmental and Municipal Studies, Dr Mohammed canister Saif Al Kuwari, revealed to Al Arab paper in a meeting that Qatar is seeing high rate of independence in food.
Ministry's figures showed that 2019 will see export of food items like vegetables, meat and poultry, dairy items including this is an extraordinary accomplishment for Qatar in light of the Gulf crisis affecting the region, he said.
Al Kuwari included, "Qatar has figured out how to develop vegetables of numerous types, to double livestock and poultry numbers and to accomplish high level of independence in dairy items, milk, red meat and eggs."
The ministry has overseen 100% self-sufficiency in poultry segment. 98 percent in frozen poultry items and about 85% in dairy.
