The Qatar National Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza is all set to start its second phase of emergency humanitarian relief programme for the residents of the Gaza Strip after the Eid al-Fitr holiday.
According to chairman Ambassador Mohamed al-Emadi, the committee has completed a $15mn first phase of the project which began in mid-February last year.
He will also be visiting the Gaza Strip and the Palestinian territories after the Eid holiday to oversee the completion of the second phase announced in early May.
The programme, which has been implemented under the directives of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, includes renovating the homes of poor families at a cost of $3mn.
The ambassador stated that Qatar provided another grant of QR50mn in early May for humanitarian causes, including health, education and housing, in addition to food especially in the holy month of Ramadan.
