New rules for telecom tariffs come into effect on January 1

There was a time in Qatar when Ooredoo, then known as QTel, used to be the only mobile phone service provider. Then Vodafone appeared on the market, and the competition helped bring down mobile phone tariffs considerably.

The tariffs in the nation are probably going to fall considerably promote from January 1, 2019, because of a decision by Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA).

 

The CRA has issued a decision to promulgate the new Retail Tariff Instruction (RTI) for telecommunications services to enhance consumer experience and guarantee sustainable competition and development of the telecommunications market in Qatar,  reported Gulf Times.

According to CRA statement, all service providers in Qatar must agree to the choice issued by CRA president Mohamed Ali al-Mannai effective January 1, 2019.

The new RTI will give specialist organizations greater adaptability as it will permit the presentation of new duties and advancements focusing on explicit areas or client portions. 

Specialist co-ops will be required to distribute these levies and advancements on their separate sites. This methodology has been picked by CRA as an administrative best practice to empower the opposition in the broadcast communications showcase.
