Qatar Charity’s (QC) office in Indonesia has distributed food baskets to benefit more than 3,000 families in the city of Tangerang, the organisation stated.
Releasing a statement in this regard, QC said the distribution was carried out in co-ordination with local authorities as part of QC’s “continuous efforts to support vulnerable families and fight poverty.”
The statement added that the underprivileged beneficiary households were selected in 13 districts and 104 neighbourhoods in the city in co-ordination with relevant social welfare departments.
Arief Wismansyah, the mayor of Tangerang, stated the distribution of foodstuffs to more than 3,000 Indonesian families in the city “is a gift” for the beneficiaries after the holy month of Ramadan, as reported by Gulf Times.
QC’s assistance will not stop at this point, hoping for the organisation’s support for sustainable development projects as the city has a population of around 2mn people, he added.
As a matter of fact, many beneficiaries expressed pleasure at getting the food aid provided by philanthropists in Qatar.
