More than 1,100 kilograms of illegal chewing tobacco has been seized by the General Authority of Customs (GAC) on Sunday at the Hamad Port.
According to reports, several shipments were seized when one of the employees suspected a shipment of electronic material and examined it on the X-ray machine.
The examination revealed 765 kilograms of the illegal substance. The same shipment included a number of water heater which carried 348 kilograms of tobacco. Legal procedures were made and a seizure report was issued.
Moreover, the GAC has also seized a number of drugs, which confirms the vigilance of Customs officials and their keenness to prevent the entry of prohibited and narcotic substances into the country.
