The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), in collaboration with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) and Qatar Diabetes Association (QDA), has launched an awareness campaign on diabetes prevention.
The four-phase campaign will last for almost two years with the aim of raising awareness among the Qataris and residents about diabetes prevention, and how to live with it and get access to the required healthcare services.
The campaign is part of the implementation of the National Diabetes Strategy 2016-2022 under the slogan 'Preventing Diabetes Together'.
The ministry has also launched a website to provide important information about diabetes, its treatment and prevention.
Dr Kholoud al-Mutawa, MoPH Chair of Awareness and Patient Empowerment Sub Committee for the National Diabetes Strategy, said the campaign is a response to the challenges posed by diabetes as a major health issue facing the Qatari community, especially as it is one of the world's most prevalent non-communicable diseases. Hence, this calls for effective steps to combat the disease at the preventive and therapeutic level.
