The Environmental Protection, Reserves, and Wildlife Department at the \Ministry of Municipality and Environment’s (MME) succeeded in releasing 2,024 turtle hatchlings into the sea.
The move comes as a part of the project to protect the endangered hawksbill turtles for 2018 season.
As a matter of fact, theseason started on June 6, and the process was highly successful with a success rate of 75- 80%, with 82 nests so far, as reported by the Gulf Times.
It may be mentioned here that the hatching process will go on until the end of the season by the end of July.
Meanwhile, the MME also announced the closure of Fuwairit Beach from April 1 to August 1 in line with the project to protect the endangered hawksbill turtles.
