The Criminal Court has sentenced an Arab expatriate man to 10 years in prison and a fine of QR200,000 for drug dealing, reportedGulfTimes.
The court additionally requested his deportation after serving his sentence. As indicated by the document of the case, the issue began when the Drug Enforcement Department at the Ministry of Interior got information that the convict had offered for sale illicit drugs hashish and heroin to someone else for QR8,000.
Upon confirming the information through police investigations, a permit from the Public Prosecution was obtained to search his accommodation. Accordingly, the arrest was made as he was attempting to sell the illicit drugs to another person. When his accommodation was thoroughly searched, different amounts of the illegal drugs were found.
At the cross examination, he claimed that he did not own the illicit drugs but was only selling them for another Asian expatriate man in exchange for QR400.
However, the court rejected his claims and was able to establish his guilt and convicted him.
