MP Mohammad Al-Dalal has submitted a proposal to allocate a building near or inside the Kuwait International Airport for the medical examination of domestic workers or any other expatriate worker entering the country including those who have traveled and returned to their jobs.
Al-Dalal pointed out all expatriate workers should undergo medical tests not only during the renewal of their visas in order to protect families and the entire society as many of them might be suffering from communicable diseases.
He said whoever is found unhealthy or sick should be treated, vaccinated or deported depending on the nature of the disease or health condition. He warned against waiting until the time of renewing the visas before requiring expatriate workers to undergo medical tests as this might endanger the lives of other people.
Meanwhile, MP Omar Al- Tabtabaei has forwarded questions to the minister of finance about the expatriates employed in Kuwait Investment Authority (KIA). He requested for details like the designations, salaries and other privileges granted to these employees.
He also asked about the authority’s plan in replacing expatriate employees with Kuwaitis and demanded for copies of their employment contracts and nature of their jobs. He then inquired about the precautionary steps taken to ensure confidentiality of information and to prevent leakage of information.
MP Thamer Al-Suwaet has called on Health Minister Sheikh Dr Bassel Al-Sabah to clarify reports published on social media platforms and daily newspapers about the alleged connection of cancer and nervous system diseases with the depleted uranium used during the Liberation War, taking into consideration the high rate of cancer over the past years.
The lawmaker wants to know if there is an agency in charge of registering statistics related to cancer cases in all Kuwaiti hospitals in the last 10 years. He asked if there is a department tasked to evaluate this agency, while requesting for relevant annual records if any. He also demanded for information about cancer patients, their gender and ages, as well as those suffering from multiple sclerosis (MS) and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) in each of the hospitals including Ibn Sina Hospital in the last 10 years. He wants to know if these cases are within the normal international rate.
