Weather inshore until 6pm Today will be slight dust to blowing dust at places at times with scattered clouds and cold by night, warning of expected strong wind over most areas, the Qatar Meteorology Department said in its daily weather report.
Offshore, will be partly cloudy at times, The report added warning of expected strong wind and high sea.
Qatar Meteorology Department (QMD) on its twitter account said that the windy conditions are expected to continue for next two days and advised Qatar residents to avoid marine activities as wave height reaches 8 Ft according to latest observations.
This effect of a ridge of high pressure accompanied with fresh to strong northwesterly wind will continue to have its impact till Saturday, January 12.
QMD had said this would cause high waves, increasing dust especially in open areas as well as a significant drop in temperatures by about 4 to 6 degrees compared with previous days.
Maximum temperature is expected to drop to 22°C and the minimum to 15°C, whereas a minimum temperature of less than 10 degrees is expected in southern areas.
However, the temperature will be less due to the wind chill effect with cold conditions in general especially during night and early morning. Wave height would be expected to range between 4 to 8 ft reaching 13ft at times.
Today's report added that wind inshore will be northwesterly 15 to 25 knot, reaching to 32 knot at places at times and offshore, it will be northwesterly 18 to 28 knot, reaching to 38 knot at times.
Visibility will be 4 to 08 kilometers, decreasing to 3 kilometers or less at places at times.
Sea state inshore will be 2 to 4 feet, rises to five feet at times. Offshore, it will be 7 to 9 feet, rises to 15 feet at times.
