As many as nine properties in the Jebailat area have been demolished by the Mechanical Equipment Department, in co-ordination with Doha Municipality and the Public Works Authority (Ashghal), as announced by the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME).
In this regard, the MME issued a statement, the operation came in implementation of the demolition permit issued in this regard.
The MME also pointed that more than 11 tonnes of dates were sold on the 11th day of the ongoing third local dates festival at Souq Waqif.
Of the total 11,353kg of dates sold on Day 11, Khalas dates accounted for 6,900kg, Khanizi 1,806kg, Shishi 1,403kg and Barhi 698kg, among others.
More than 130 tonnes of dates have been sold at the festival since its launch on July 19, while the visitor turnout in the same period is around 37,500 people.
Meanwhile, the MME, in co-operation with Friends of the Environment Centre, is organising an awareness lecture for the public on the occasion of the third local dates festival with an aim to raise awareness on the various types of pests that affect palm trees and how to combat them.
