The World Health Organisation (WHO) has ranked Qatar as one of the highly dust-prone countries of the world, owing to continuous construction work, flow of cars and other reasons.
In fact, according to a report by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), studies of human exposure to air pollutants by EPA indicate indoor levels of pollutants may be 2 to 5 times—and occasionally more than 100 times—higher than outdoor pollutant levels, as reported by Qatar Tribune.
However, it was revealed that few plants in this regard were helpful in removing toxic chemicals from the air called volatile organic compounds (VOCs) like formaldehyde, benzene, trichloroethylene, which are all potential carcinogens that can be off-gassed from materials used in constructing homes and buildings.
The top 5 plants which greatly contribute in cutting down the intake of harmful components are as follows:
1. Golden Pothos - helps in cleaning Benzene, formaldehyde, trichloroethylene, xylene and toluene.
2. Spider Plant - helps in cleaning formaldehyde, xylene and toluene.
