Hamad Port, which is known to be one of the largest of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa region, has off late witnessed a considerable number of activities ever since the siege by four countries was imposed on Qatar last June.
According to sources Hamad port, has witnessed steep growth in the volume of containers handled.
As a matter of fact, the Port opened for operations with the arrival of a large 14,000 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent unit) vessel belonging to the Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) in December 2016, as reported by Gulf Times.
Reports suggest that the Port is likely to hit the 1mn-TEU mark in less than a year given the volume handled from March until now.
The Gulf Times reports a senior official of a global shipping firm who said that the cargo volume at the port has been very encouraging throughout the past year, and there has been a remarkable growth in businesses as each month passes.
