This one's for all the spice junkies out there. There are times when we often end up buying green chillies in large quantities, but eventually struggle while storing them. Most of the times, due to inappropriate storage, green chillies tend to go bad. If you wish to get rid of the same, and want to increase the shelf life of the chillies, then these easy and inexpensive ways of storing them might come to great help. Store In A Zip Lock Bag

To preserve green chillies for longer period, store them in zip lock bags. Just remove the stem part of the chillies and transfer them inside a zip lock bag. Place the bag inside a refrigerator and use the green chillies as and when required. This way, your chillies can stay fresh for upto a week or so.

Store In An Air-Tight container With Kitchen Towel Inside

If you're going on a long vacation and don't want those chillies kept in the refrigerator to go stale, just follow this easy hack and you'll be able to preserve them for at least 20-25 days. Take a container and evenly place two layers of kitchen towel in it. Once this is done, remove the stem part of the chillies and transfer them in the container. Cover the chillies with another layer of the kitchen towel and close the lid of the air-tight container. Store it in refrigerator and use as and when required. The kitchen towel will help in absorbing excess moisture from the chillies.

Cover With Aluminium Foil

Another easy way of increasing the shelf life of green chillies is by covering it with aluminium foil and then freezing it. Just place the green chillies on a plate and cover the whole plate with aluminium foil. Put the plate inside a freezer and allow it to freeze for 6-7 hours. Once this is done, bring it out and store the frozen chillies in an air-tight container.  Place it inside a refrigerator. This way, the green chillies will stay fresh for upto 2 months.
